Do You Wish or Do You Desire?

Many of us, wish do something in our life; be it gaining new knowledge or completing a course online, or taking steps for healthier lifestyle, or join gym or financial investments or start a new business. But nothing happens and life moves on for many of us.
This is not true for few of them. These few of them, will take all the necessary steps to make sure they achieve what they want to achieve.
Why is this?
I have been trying to find an answer for long time. And now I have come close to an answer:
I always wish for something to happen, but never desire that particular thing to happen.
The above statement was confusing to me for good amount time. How it is possible? I start doing something and over a time it looses momentum and it eventually dies.
For very long time, I was developing mobile games. I always wanted to create 2D games that can be played easily but also enjoy. I used to develop for myself such games, but was scared to publish in Play store. But after some years, I decided to publish and I got not that great response.
I wanted to do better but it never kicked off. I started finding reasons for not doing it; eventually I stopped. Game development was one of my favourite thing. I wanted to take to the highest possible level. I used to dream of my games getting downloaded more than 1Million, but never did anything to reach there.
On the contrary, there was time when I wanted to become financially strong. I read good amount of books, viewed many YouTube videos and took many steps to reach my goals. And today, I can confidently tell, that I am on the way to achieve my goals and constantly take steps to review and course correct my financial planning.
What was so different between these two. I left something which I loved to do. But didn’t bother to take the necessary steps to reach where I wanted it to be.
In recent months, I had started reading the book Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. When reading of first chapter was complete, I realised what I was doing wrong.
The first chapter talks about DESIRE and how many riches actually translated that into reality. The chapter provides many examples who have become riches because of their strong desire.
The chapter talks about, how desire becomes definite purpose and how that translates into taking steps to reach there. It also explain why many of us stop doing what we wish to do — we get overtaken by temporary defeat.
Even though dreaming is the starting point of many things. If one does not translate that to a burning desire, then it will stop eventually.
When I look back, I can now understand, why one of my favourite thing never took off to next levels.
What do you think about wishing vs desiring?
